“The Teachers’ Union of Ireland (TUI) has chosen Clayton Whites Hotel, formerly Whites of Wexford, as a venue for its Annual Congress on several occasions, most recently in April 2015. Around 450 delegates attend Congress and there are around 550 delegates and invited guests who attend the gala dinner.
The location of Whites is superb. The hotel is in the centre of Wexford and retailers and restaurants in the town support the event and offer discounts to delegates. The town really comes together to make delegates feel welcome and special. As a venue, Whites can accommodate many different sizes of events. The dedicated business centre is located on the 1st floor of the hotel which means that all meeting rooms that may be required for the running of a conference are within easy access of the main hall.
As a conference organiser, I find communication with the venue is vital to the success of TUI Congress. In the lead up to the event, communication with Whites was second to none – not just with the events manager, but with other departments, such as reservations and catering. During Congress itself, this communication flowed effortlessly. I never had to look for a member of staff – there was always someone there to help with whatever was required. Without exception, every single member of staff was friendly, efficient and professional.
Many delegates commented on how impressed they were with the service during the gala dinner. Ensuring that 550 people are served promptly with good quality food is a huge task and one which was run with military precision. Our delegates love coming to Whites and I find them fantastic to work with. TUI Congress definitely will return to Whites in the future”.
