Wexford Festival Opera is one of the world’s most renowned Opera festivals, delighting audiences since 1951 with rarely performed and unjustly neglected operas in the beautiful surroundings of the National Opera House. Every October, Wexford becomes the home to the world’s most talented musicians and artists and is truly alive with the sound of music. The Wexford Fringe Festival and Wexford Spiegeltent Festival run parallel to Wexford Festival Opera, meaning there is something for everyone in Wexford during Opera time.
The 2018 festival programme includes Mala vita (Wretched Life) by Umberto Giordano, L’oracolo (The Oracle) by Franco Leoni, Dinner at Eight and Il bravo (The Assassin).
The very popular lunchtime recitals allow you to get up close and personal with the lead singers of the festival, hosted in the magnificent surrounding of the 18th Century St Iberius Church, right in the heart of historic Wexford Town. Other festival programme highlights include the Gala Concert, Piano Recitals and Friends Lunches. There really is an option to suit every musical taste and budget.
Clayton Whites Hotel is a proud host to the ShortWorks Opera, a small stage daytime operatic performance, with tickets available from the National Opera House. Heading to a lunchtime recital or the ShortWorks Opera? Enjoy lunch with an exclusive opera menu at the newly refurbished Terrace Restaurant in Clayton Whites Hotel.
Each year Clayton Whites Hotel celebrates and supports the very best of Irish artistry and handmade crafts with an annual art and craft exhibition held at the hotel.
